“Winnie the Whale story”
Firstly I owe the Save my Life Program and Toby Trundle so much thanks for your help and support, I wouldn’t be writing this story without you!! As I reached a 4 stone loss recently, I was asked to write my success story. I would also like to take this moment to thank all my family/ friends for your words or encouragement and guidance!
If I’m honest I’ve never been slim and I always blamed my relatives for passing on their “big bones” and “child bearing hips”. Truth is; I lived to eat! Everyone who knows me would say I had a bad relationship with food aka crisps, but I was always the token “Funny Fat Friend”.
The last time I worked out was at a one off session in a boot camp. My friends urged me to join them, which I thought was a good idea at the time. Needless to say roughly 5 minutes into the session I was dizzy, felt sick and thought I was going to pass out! I did stop a few times, but I made it through the session and came out alive! It was only the repercussions of my actions in previous days that led me to regret the choice of exercise! Two days after the session, I was struggling to get myself out of bed, sit down or even move without my stomach hurting. I actually went to the doctors thinking I had Appendicitis. After explaining what I had done in the last few days, I was so ashamed when she said it was because my body is just not used to exercise!
She then proceeded to tell me I was severely overweight, which is an underlying reason why I was feeling so glum/ tired all the time and other medical issues.
Christmas 2014, at nearly 17 stone (size 20-22) I was massive! The weight seemed to creep on slowly over the previous 10 years, when I was left to my own devises. My confidence was so low that I tried to cover it up with a big smile and jokes- obviously I was eating my feelings ( and everyone elses feelings) . Between a similar sized friend and I, we had “Fat thigh problem” jokes to explain why we couldn’t walk that far without our legs rubbing, or to mask the feeling of being so uncomfortable going to a spa because the robes won’t fit or not being able to go horse riding (for the fear of flattening the horse) but the worst thing about being fat, was not being able to attend a good friend’s Wedding.
She asked me to be a bridesmaid for her and I was truly honoured, but at the back of my mind I was freaking out! When I looked at the other “chosen ones” they were all a slim size 6 or 8 (SHHHHLAGS! ) and I didn’t want to be the Whale at the end of the aisle. There was even talk of getting the dresses from ZARA! ( #fatthighproblems = we all know they don’t do big sizes) I made excuses not to go, but really regret not being there- so I had to do something drastic!
With my big sister’s Wedding in the summer, I knew this would be my motivation to really make the change that was needed in my life.
After speaking to a good friend at work, she suggested I tried the program she was doing. I saw how it had helped her lose 3 stone and it really changed her life. Being my inspiration and giving me the little push I needed, I emailed Toby and we set up the initial meeting. I’m not going to lie, the first time we met; I was so scared I nearly pooped my pants. I took a sheet of paper showing everything I had eaten the previous week and dressed in my “workout” attire (obviously I had to buy workout clothes, because let’s face it, I only went to 4/ 5 exercise classes in the previous 4/5 years and I thought my body rejected exercise!)
Since starting the program in January 2015, I have attended one PT session, 3 circuit classes and one nutrition lesson a week (Ok, if I’m honest, I never really made all classes in the week). Over the first 3 months I found the changes extremely hard as I cut out crisps totally. I swapped junk food for healthier alternatives and I was amazed to find out that I actually enjoyed it!
Attending the nutrition and weigh in meetings with a food diary gave me the motivation and support I needed. Toby and the others in the class inspired me and kept me focused, particularly on weeks when I didn’t lose weight (or the one week I actually put on! – my excuse= hen party and drinking)
I made a tracker chart, with an image of where I was now and using modelmydiet, for where I wanted to be. I tried other diets in the past, but they didn’t work and are only quick fixes, you really have to focus on long-term success and be patient! It’s a lot of hard work and I know my journey is no way near over. I recently weighed in at 12 stone 9lbs (size 14-16) and its helped me to realise that I have the potential to achieve any goals I set for myself in life and I have a restoring sense of self-belief. I’ve also learnt that I don’t need to put myself down and hide behind a loud person and inches of makeup.
I now need to set new goals and use everything I have learnt over the past year, to sustain the changes in my lifestyle. I have already begun to teach nutrition lessons at school, in the hope that I can educate our students to make healthy decisions, so they don’t end up in the same place. – Laraine Naughton
I started on the programme in April 2014. I was unhealthy, unfit and felt awful – Fat & Frumpy at 47! I am still 47 but do not feel fat and frumpy anymore.
I followed the eating plan and lost an amazing amount – even though I have a very underactive Thyroid and have found it nearly impossible to lose weight before. The support that I have received is second to none. Yes it is hard at times but well worth the effort. I lost 2 stones so far and I feel so much better in myself. I have gained confidence in myself, can now tailor my eating to suit me and my body type.
I never thought I would ever drop 2 dress sizes and feel so good about myself. I have learned so much over the last 18 months and have recommended the programme to several friends because I know it works. There is no pressure just encouragement from Toby and the other group members. I did not have a lot of weight to lose compared to others on the program but what I have lost I am very happy with. I found the weight creeping on without really noticing until one dayI saw a mortifying photo of myself and decided I had to do something about it. I chose The Save My Life Program as I was looking for a lifestyle change not just a quick fix.
My main goals were weight loss and just feeling better within myself. Making changes to my diet was easier than I thought, I love creating new dishes and making my favourite meals healthier. With a little bit of effort you can make pretty much anything but in a cleaner way and enjoy what you are eating without the guilt. I also find I can take a break when I go on holiday etc and the weight doesn’t pile back on because automatically I am making healthier choices than before. I also shocked myself at how much I have taken to the exercise classes, I actually miss the classes if I can’t go and actually do extra on my own outside of the group.
Since joining the programme I have lost over 5 and half stone and 46cm off my waist alone but the biggest achievement for me if how fit and healthy I feel. Although it is costing me a fortune in new clothes!
The support you receive from the other members and from the trainers is amazing and I could never see myself going back to my old lifestyle. I am really looking forward to the next few months in my journey and losing my last 1 and half stone. – Carly
So … before I started this programme is had tried calorie counting and several other options to lose weight, but I just wasn’t getting any where, before I started the programme I honestly felt really bad, I knew my health wasn’t as good aa it could have been I couldn’t look in the mirror at myself, I got so angry with myself when I would go shopping and I tried something on and I didn’t feel/look good in it, so I joined in January and since I’ve joined I have noticed a MASSIVE difference it’s amazing what natural foods can do for your body.
I have slipped a couple of time but kicked myself up the arse and manged to get back on track, and for that I feel amazing, I have learned that you don’t have to starve on a diet, as long as it ia natural and within portion you can eat as much as you want.
My top 3 results have been, clothe sizes, I have noticed that I am buying smaller sizes in tops, especially trousers, another difference I have noticed us that my confidence has grown hugely I can now go shopping and not get as annoyed and I feel good aswell, the last one is that I can look in the mirror and notice a difference, I’m happy to have full body photos now, where as before I would avoid it because I felt so uncomfortable but now I feel that I can do it.

What a massive year for me, but it’s been one of the best years in my life. Doing more things with my son because I have more energy and have lost over 10 stone BOOM!!!!!. So for all the people that joined me on this journey and supported me and picked me up when I was down, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all helped me to get my life back. Watch out 2014 new dazzer is back. One last thing… I couldn’t have done this year without Toby Trundle pushing me all the way, thank you.
My situation was getting to the end, I had no life and I couldn’t even climb stairs without getting out of breath. But the worse thing was that I couldn’t do father activities with my son, a simple bike ride was a scary thought and one that I tried to avoid all the time.
Toby knew that I was paranoid in the way I felt about my body, but he was very understanding and moved me into a private studio so we could train on our own. Toby’s best attribute is how much he care’s, he took the time to understand me and implement a program to fit what I enjoyed. It was hard to not get motivated by Toby because he enjoys what he does and that rubbed off on our training. No one training day was the same, Toby always mixed it up so it never got boring. Don’t get me wrong it was tough and on the days that I couldn’t be bothered somehow Toby motivated me to carry on.
The top 3 life changing results I have achieved from working with Toby is that he gave me my life back and gave my son a father back. I now look at food in a healthy way and he has given me my body back that I can be proud of not ashamed
If any one has the opportunity to do what I did DO IT! It’s a life changing experience with amazing results. If you give Toby and the program 100% commitment, you will get 100% results. Toby is very aware of how to get the results you need.
Before I started the Save My Life Program I wasn’t just overweight ,clinically obese. Mentally, physically and emotionally I had reached my breaking point.
Having already tried Slim Fast, Weight Watchers and Slimming World failing miserably I had hit my lowest point of all time. I hated shopping for clothes and to stand in front of a mirror in changing rooms would practically reduce me to tears.
I initially I had no confidence that this program would work. As far as I was concerned I had tried other diets and failed miserably. The cost was also a worry for me – when I might not even stick to it. It’s the best money I have ever spent!
There is massive support around this, especially with all the other members of the Program being in the same Facebook group – it is like having another family, except we are all in this together. With the nutrition information I feel I have been re-educated to make better food choices which will stay with me for life.
I achieved an Initial weight loss of 2 stone in 7 weeks and my total loss to date is 4 stone in 20 weeks. I Look and feel fantastic. My body is so much healthier, m family and friends are commenting on how good I am looking., and It has given me my confidence back! -Sarah Norcott

I was seriously overweight, I had run out of ideas of how to lose weight, nothing was working and was even considering surgery. But now…I could not be more happy! Before I started the Save My Life Program I was considering having bariatric surgery. I was yo-yoing between gaining and losing weight, yet still managing to convince myself that I was in fact losing! That went on for a year, and I was miserable, lacked energy and wanted to eat takeaways all the time.
After joining the programme, I realised just how nutritionally uneducated I was and that has been one of the biggest changes I have made in my life. I can eat the food I would do on a daily basis with a few changes. I eat out quite regularly and this has just meant that I am more vigilant and use the knowledge I now have when ordering. I no longer consider it a programme but a way of my life.
I am now fitter than ever before, feel energetic and less bloated.

I have been a yoyo dieter for 35 years and recently took drastic action and paid for a gastric band. I successfully lost 7 stone give or take but was malnourished, my hair fell out and nails broke. I was anaemic and vitamin D deficient. The band slipped and I became very ill and could have died. It was removed and I gained 7 stone back in 9 months.
I struggled with commercial diets and calorie counting for a further two years to no avail. I was 19 stone 3 lbs when I started the Save My Life Program 9 weeks ago. I had to try this one last thing! I was worried I would fail again and not be able to exercise. I am an all or nothing person and I found that the eating plan was ‘strict’ enough not to wander off plan but keep motivated! I really enjoyed the 14 day ‘Detox’ Period.
Since joining the program I have found I have more energy, have lost a shed load of inches and a lot of weight! If you are thinking about this program I would say go for it! What have you got to lose…nothing?

Before I started the Save My Life Program I was the biggest I had ever been, 18 Stone 6 lbs. I was getting more and more worried about my increasing size, but the more I worried about it, the less I seemed to do about it! I was finding myself being less active, more tired and unable to motivate myself. I was having issues with my work uniform not fitting and I kept putting off my fitness test, knowing there was no way I was going to pass. I was beginning to think the only way I would ever be a normal weight again was to consider bariatric surgery, something I have always said I would never have.
Before I started the program I can’t really say that I had any fears, due to the previous conversation I had with Toby before the first taster session. I only felt more confident that the program was right for me after to speaking to Toby and his team.
What I like about the Save My Life Program is that it is very informative about how damaging to my health some foods are that I would normally eat! I feel the eating plan is easy to follow and the exercise classes are fun but at the same time a good workout improving my fitness.
My best 3 results I have had since joining the program is that I feel so well in myself, I am no longer tired and am extremely motivated and my clothes are looser without the scales showing massive weight loss (although I have now lost over 3 stone to date). I am determined to lose 100 lbs minimum and am 100% convinced this program will get me there! “I have now Lost over 4.5 stone in the last 5 months“
I have been overweight since I was 10 years old and have tried everyway I can to get fit and lose weight imaginable with varying success. I always put the weight back on and some!
Last year I was diagnosed with type II diabetes and suffer from arthritis in my back and knees and also gout attacks. My overall health was getting very poor and I was desperate and thinking the only answer would be weight loss surgery. I won’t lie, at first I was very scared of starting the Save My Life Program for many reasons; I didn’t think anything could work for me, if it did work would I put the weight back on? The thought of exercise also scared me in case I did more damage to myself than good. My overall doubt was how could this program be any different to another I had already tried?!
Well … I have been on the Save My Life Program now since July 2013 (Now January) and I can honestly say THERE IS NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT! I am not on a diet; I am eating normally but only healthy, non allergenic foods and learning new things all the time about what is and what is not good to eat. I am never hungry and with my trainers guidance I am starting to get moving, walk, swim and workout twice a week without injury- something I thought I would never be about to do again (Being just under 30 stone). I am so much happier in myself and can truly say I am getting my life back on track with the help and encouragement from Toby and the private Facebook support group which is a godsend.
So far on the program my highlights have been regaining my sense of self-worth,
confidence, improving my overall health and losing well over 5.5 stone so far! I can’t thank you enough for what you have done.

Even though I have only been on the program two weeks I would still like to write you this message!
Before I started the program I was on and off several diets, almost every Monday I would start a new one and some would not last even a few hours! I would lose 2-3 lbs every week then put it all back on again and more by the weekend!
If I’m honest … I didn’t think I would be able to sustain your eating plan! Like all the others I have tried they are short lived… BUT this eating plan is lovely, tasty, nutritious and fills me up! Unbelievably I no longer crave sugar (like the crap I used to eat) and now have started snacking on healthy things like Nak’d bars and corn things! My dinner plate is now filled up with loads of fruit and vegetables. Not craving sugar is a big thing for me but surprisingly I now have more energy than I have ever had. I have now nearly lost 1 stone in my first month and am feeling great!
If you are thinking about joining the program then all I can say is it is the best thing you can do, it’s not a diet it’s just a healthy way of eating and most importantly is a great plan for sustainable weight loss. – Michelle Nije
In the first 4 weeks on the program I lost 1 stone with very little exercise (as I couldn’t get to the gym) but I am now consistently losing 3-4lbs per week. I have had 3 consecutive weighin’s of -5lbs, -4lbs, -4lbs.
I have now been on the Program for 10 weeks and I love it! I always feel satisfied and extremely rarely do I get a ‘need’ for a chocolate bar or similar. Before I started the Save My Life Program it was ‘just another diet’ like all the others I have tried, including the liquid ones yuk! I was at the point of considering a surgical step i.e. Gastric band when i saw Toby’s advert on Facebook. I thought I would give it a go – the rest they say is history! This is a FULL LIFESTYLE CHANGE NOT JUST ANY OLD DIET!
When I first started the program the thing that scared me most was the exercise! Simply because I had got so big, I had no balance, but I have found it good fun even if I can completely keep up yet, but it works!
This program is a way of life, not to be confused with a diet! It makes you feel good, energised and happy! It’s all positive and the group meets are such fun – I’ve made some good friends too which is a bonus – we all support each other.

It is my pleasure to write and tell anyone thinking of starting a programme just what my thoughts and feelings were and are.
Before I even called you, I had at times kidded myself that I was ok big, people should like me for what I am I thought, I would eat what I wanted, whenever I wanted and to be truthful I felt I deserved it. I had some emotional issues in my life and had turned to food for comfort. Even being diagnosed diabetic did not stop me eating – if anything I ate more! I saw the looks people gave me, so hurtful and I would cry inwardly. Being fat gives people the right to come up to you and in conversation ask if you’ve lost weight!!! I felt ashamed but hid it by caring for others and humour. Food was killing me.
When I met Toby he wasn’t like other trainers he didn’t want to punish me with grueling regimes. However he showed me that he believed in me and not only that I could do it, that we could do it. It wasn’t all about diet diet diet. It was about me as a whole person (he cared). If I had a bad few days with my food he didn’t tell me off we talked and worked around it. Over time he has helped me achieve and believe in myself. Where at first exercise was horrible and I felt it was all about weight loss he has changed my perception. Now of course I do it to stay fit but he has made it fun. Set challenges I never imagined where in my realm.
I have made new friendships with people who spur me on. I now box, run, do circuit training and join in with classes that I never would of been seen dead in. Why? Because I can achieve anything with help from others. Yes when I first entered the gym I was shy I looked at all the fit people and was embarrassed, but I’ve learnt I can’t die of embarrassment but you can die of obesity. Toby has given me a chance to not only watch my kids grow up but do activities with them.
I have gone from a size 26 to a size 8 yes I say wow every time I see myself.
Toby changed my life and as far as I am concerned he will be part of my family forever. I know it might sound over the top but with his guidance I really believe he helped save my life.
One question: what have you got to lose by trying?
I always knew I was over weight from a teenager but after having children the weight just kept on increasing. I was comfortable with my life and just got into a position where I felt it didn’t really matter what I looked like.
I always did my best to avoid photos mirrors and basically my reflection in general. It was only when I applied for a new job in the prison service I realised how bad shape I really was. My medical and fitness tests were embarrassing not to mention upsetting. My blood pressure was sky high and I was at least 6 stone over weight. I was asked to complete a fitness test and not even half way through I failed as I couldn’t keep up with the beep on the beep test which consisted of running between to lines before a buzzer sounded.
This really opened my eyes to how unfit and how unhealthy I really had become. From this moment on I knew I had to change my life.
I wasn’t too sure where to start in losing weight. I knew my diet had a lot to do with it but I knew exercise would have to play a big part too as I needed to increase my fitness. I considered various gyms but knew I had no confidence in myself to go alone and feel comfortable with lots of other people around. I knew I had to get some advice and a personal trainer seemed my best option as they could help me with diet and an exercise plan.
I was worried to start with how I would look to a personal trainer as my self esteem was very low and I knew I’d look awful in gym clothes. Also the thought someone knowing how unfit and over weight I really was embarrassed me.
When I started the programme with Toby he made a plan of action with me about weight loss and exercise plans to help me get the weight off. Food diaries I found were very important to realise what I was eating and calorie counting. The programme I was set at the gym was also one I could carry on at home and this was handy as it boosted what I was doing with Toby at the gym.
After the first month I had lost my first stone and this drove me on and after that I was determined to get the rest of the weight off. The exercise was getting harder but this was because I was now more able and it was starting to tone my body in areas that the weight was coming off. My individual programme suited me and my lifestyle and changed as my body needed it too.
The main things I have seen change are my figure my blood pressure and my confidence. No longer hiding from the camera or my own reflection and I am now considered fit and healthy by my doctor.
Anyone thinking of trying this programme should just do it. If I can do it anyone can. I’ve failed every diet going. Toby has encouraged me every step of the way and built up my fitness weekly by encouraging me to push myself and always being there with advice and extra tips and food plans.
I would never look back at starting with Toby. He made me feel comfortable the first day we met, never a failure or uncomfortable when the going got tough. Toby really has helped save my life he’s now given me a new life. Which consists of a happier more confident person.
Just over 2 years ago I decided that I wanted to make a change; I was a 36 year old husband and father of two and weighed nearly 23 stone. I was embarrassed about the way I looked and had no energy for myself, and worse no energy for my family. I had decided to take the first step.
Day 1, I meet Toby Trundle, the trainer; it was at this point I realised what I had done to myself in terms of no exercise and bad diet. Let’s just say at the end of session I was sitting down in the fresh air after failing to run 500 meters, thoroughly embarrassed and ready to go home and never come back. It was at this point that I meet Toby the person. He understood how difficult it was for those people in my situation both physically and mentally. I can honestly say it was his words of encouragement that helped me make it to day 2.
Over the next few months Toby would always make an effort to check on my progress, and was always there with words of encouragement, but when I decided to join Toby’s bootcamp (group exercise programme) I started to make some real progress.
The programme was great as it was tailored to my needs and capabilities, as Toby understands how to get the best results for me. Upon completion of this programme I felt better than at any other point in my adult life and more importantly the weight loss was sustainable and a platform for continued weight loss.
I have just finished my first half marathon (yes….. 13.1 miles), and have 2 more planned for later this year. I have now lost over 6 stone in total. I would like to thank Toby for his continued support and dedication, as well as the hours of sweat and pain. I now look forward to the future, rather than regret the things I should have done.
